After graduating from University of Miami with her undergraduate degree, Melonie worked on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a pianist in a headliner orchestra/band to eventually lead the band as musical director as well as facilitating all music onboard. Leaving cruise ships at the end of 1999, she immediately started teaching at the college level and performing as pianist, keyboardist, accompanist, vocalist throughout San Diego.
