Professional info

Melonie is a versatile musician, active as an educator and performer.  

Her musical experience encompasses instrumental /vocal performance, music directing and instruction/adjudication in different genres from jazz to classical.

Grossmont College 

2001 - present

Assistant Professor, Director of Piano Studies, Vocal Jazz Ensemble Director (Music Department)

Classes include Music Theory and Practice I, Class Piano I, II, III, IV, Jazz Piano, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Applied Piano (Classical/Jazz), Introduction to Music (Musicianship for Elementary Teachers.)  

She is also a member of the Grossmont Faculty Jazz performing group(s).

Adjunct Faculty, Music Department.

Classes include Music Theory, Music History (traditional and online), Musicianship for Elementary Teachers, Class Piano and Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

2010 - present

After graduating from University of Miami with her undergraduate degree, Melonie worked on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a pianist in a headliner orchestra/band to eventually lead the band as musical director as well as facilitating all music onboard.   Leaving cruise ships at the end of 1999, she immediately started teaching at the college level and performing as pianist, keyboardist, accompanist, vocalist throughout San Diego.
